“Be Kind, Compassionate & Forgiving”

FOCUS

In 7th grade my life really began to change for the better musically when my band director, Jean Kelly, introduced us to the wonderful world of music theory. It was a game changer for my classmates & myself. Lights came on in a way they had never done so before concerning music’s structure, shape & simplicity.

The whole purpose of music theory is to inform & equip musicians to be able make music as beautifully, easily, creatively, freely & efficiently as possible. Music theory doesn’t exist for itself, it exists for the music.

So it is with scripture. The purpose of scripture isn’t for it just to be known, but to be lived. Today we will trust God again to apply to the point of action some very real truth we need to hear & heed know & do believe & obey.

Kindness, compassion & forgiveness …

1. are often in short supply.

Sadly this is sometimes, maybe even often, the story for some of us.

Ephesians 4:32 (Matthew 6:12)

2. should be the default of every believer.

2 Samuel 9:1-7 Psalm 51:1 & 86:15 Matthew 18:21-35

Making It Real

1] Do you feel God’s finger on your heart? If so, ask Him to change you.

2] What can you do to cultivate this as a default? Be specific.

Action Step

Ask God every day this week for an opportunity to be kind, compassionate & forgiving toward three people you may or may not know. Pick up the “KCF” sheet on the Information Table as you leave today to help you do so.
